Moon Explanation

There are 8 phases of the moon. The moon effects the tides. There is the, New moon it is the first moon which is black so the person can't see anything because the earth is blocking the sunlight for the moons glow.

The second moon is the Waxing Crescent. This is when there is a slither of light like a banana because the Earth is covering the sunlight from the sun.

Then there is the First Quarter is a half moon. The First Quarter or half moon is when half the moon is glowing because the moon is at the side of the earth.

The fourth moon is the Waxing Gibbous. The Waxing Gibbous is a bit bigger than a half moon or First Quarter.

The following phase is the Full moon. When the moon is full effect on the tides,That is called the gravitational pull because there is more gravity being forced on the tides.

The next moon phase is the Waning Gibbous. It is when the person can see a bit more than half of the moon but the glow is on the other side of the disk because the moon is at a certain place and that causes the phase.

The next moon phase is the Last Quarter. This is a half moon with the glow on the other side of the disk because of the moons position.

The last moon phase is the Waning Crescent is a sliver of the moon. That is because of the moons position

The moon affects the tides because the moon pulls the tides in and out so in a full moon the tides are high and during a Waxing Crescent the tides will be a low tide because the moon won't have such an affect on the tides as in a full moon.

The moon gets its glow from the sun bouncing off the earth and it depends where the moon is because the moon doesn't get its own light, so the moon relies on the sun for light.

The different phases occur by relying on the sun. To get a full moon the sun, the moon and the earth have to bet in a straight line in that order and the sun will light up the moon and that's how a full moon happens. Sometimes when the moon is full it is yellow and that's because the moon is so close to the sun.

In New Zealand the moon would be different because the sun light is bouncing off the Earth and because the country's are in different places on the Earth the different country's would get different moons.

The moon takes 29 1/2 days to travel around the Earth.

The moon is important in many ways.Astronomers rely on the moon for their study. The moon is also important to humans and animals.

It is important to animals incase it is dark and hunters or other animals are trying to kill other animals and the animal being hunted because the moon will not light up the sky
